We are delighted to introduce our new Operations Manager, Redvers Wilbur (aka Red), who looks forward to making a positive impact here at Hockey Wanganui!

Red has been playing hockey almost as long as he can remember, from junior school right the way up to senior club and rep hockey at a national level, both here in NZ and back in the UK. He also comes with plenty of coaching experience after more than a decade of teaching in secondary education. He loves hockey and hopes to make a real difference here in our hockey community. He had this to say for himself: 

"Hi everyone, I'm very happy to have this opportunity to help support and develop hockey in Whanganui. My first experience of playing here was back in 2008, when my family first moved to town and I got involved in the wonderful twilight hockey competition, which I'm stoked to see is still going strong! I was mainly down at uni in Canterbury during my first spell in NZ (2008-2013), but Whanganui was definitely home, and coming back to play summer hockey was a real treat. My wife and I moved back to NZ from the UK a little more than a year ago and soon found ourselves buying a renovation project on the edge of town. It's great to be back in Whanganui and to pick up where I left off with the awesome hockey community here. I'm really looking forward to getting involved with as much local hockey as possible, so hopefully you'll see me out and around super soon. Do come and say hello - I'm always happy to chat (especially if it's hockey chat!)."
